About Oaks of Righteousness...

Mary Jean Young, a teacher and speaker at various women's retreats, seminars and Bible studies has done extensive study and teaching in the areas of prayer, worship, listening to God and spiritual formation. A former English, writing and computer teacher, Mary Jean is active in her local church and currently teaches and writes curriculum for a large independent neighborhood Bible study in the western suburbs of Chicago. She is the mother of three sons and a grandmother of four wonderful grandchildren. Mary Jean and her husband Jim reside in St. Charles, IL.

The name of this ministry, Oaks of Righteousness, comes from Isaiah 61:1-3, which are "life verses" for Mary Jean reflecting a difficult time in her life over 25 years ago. She sees her life as showcase for God's faithfulness in giving her "a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." It is her ultimate goal and desire that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, she and her ministry be an oak of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor!

It is Mary Jean's prayer that Oaks of Righteousness would be a ministry that would – in the name and power of Father, Son and Spirit – help bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom for captives and release from darkness for prisoners – that we all might be oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor!
